Financial Literacy in Schools

Financial empowerment starts with education. With this in mind, Money Mentors is committed to providing FREE financial education presentations to students in kindergarten to Grade 12. Our activity-based and interactive presentations align with the Alberta curriculum and keep students engaged while learning key money concepts.

We understand every classroom and school is different, so we go above and beyond to make sure your experience with us is easy, informative and professional. To make it convenient for teachers, we work with their schedule to ensure presentation times and dates are best suited for them and our youth presenters provide any resources needed for the presentation.

From launching our first Grade 11 CALM presentation in 2012 to now offering a full suite of presentations to all grade levels, Money Mentors is committed to providing quality financial education to our youth. In 2018, we presented to 1600 classrooms, impacting 37,151 students across Alberta.

But that’s not all! To keep the financial conversation going in the classroom and beyond, we offer FREE downloadable extension activities that complement our presentations at every grade level. Teachers and parents can use these activities to further classroom discussions and home learning.

Testimonials:

“Money Mentors offers some great financial literacy workshops. Our junior high students at West Island College were fortunate enough to have Ms. Maria Sharro come and present their two junior high workshops, “Saving Cent$” and “Credit Connect,” last week. These are great introductory sessions that get the students thinking and talking about how to be smarter with their current and future income. The class provides a deeper understanding of key concepts, engages them in a lively discussion and gets them talking about it with their peers and family members. We highly recommend that all students take advantage of this great learning resource!”

Scott Bennett, West Island College

“Brooke is a great presenter and we would love to have her back in Lac La Biche for another session! High school students are not always the easiest crowd to present to, but Brooke handled herself confidently and really engaged the students. She has the knowledge to back up her presentation and it flowed seamlessly for the 80-minute block.”

Christine Martin, J A William High School
