7 Money Mantras to Inspire Better Money Habits

If you follow Money Mentors on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, chances are you’ve seen our monthly money mantras feature, #MoneyMantraMonday. Over the past few years, manifestation has picked up steam―promising change in everything from your health to your wealth. A mantra is a statement, word or phrase that is repeated frequently to heighten one’s awareness or concentration.

Whether you believe in manifestation or not, there is real power behind your thoughts. These thoughts propel you forward (or backwards!) and can have a role in your day-to-day routine. By creating a personal mantra or affirmation that you connect with, you’ll feel more aligned with your goals and your future―yes, even with your finances!

To help get you started, here are 7 money mantras that really work. Practice saying these money affirmations daily to help inspire better spending habits:

“I deserve abundance in all kinds.”

Remember, you are more than just your money. While it’s great to be financially abundant, it’s also equally important to have abundance in other areas of your life―like love, happiness, goals, experiences, creativity and imagination.

“I am in charge of my spending decisions.”

While we all experience things out of our control sometimes (like losing our jobs or getting sick), we are generally in control of the decisions we make. Make sure those decisions are aligned with your financial goals, whenever possible, so you can feel confident in your spending vs. saving abilities.

“My financial fate is not set in stone.”

Your money story is forever changing. Just because you made financial mistakes in the past doesn’t mean you will continue to do so in the future. You are the author of your own life and just like characters in a book, you can rewrite or edit your story and evolve into the person you want to be.

“I have enough. I am enough.”

We all seem to be caught in the never-ending cycle of the rat race, FOMO and wish lists. But through all that noise, it’s important to pause and remind yourself that you are enough. What you have is enough.

“My best investment is in myself.”

Lately, it seems like our time, energy and money are getting pulled into every direction possible, but are we saving any for ourselves? It’s time to invest in yourself for once. Whether that’s by becoming more financially savvy (so you can understand key financial concepts and develop important money skills), reading books that will help guide you towards a brighter financial future, or perhaps talking to one of our counsellors to learn how to manage your money better and become debt-free―make a habit of carving out time to invest in yourself and your possibilities.

“My future will be brighter than my past.”

Just like your financial fate is not fixed, neither is your future. Your past does not dictate who you will be in the future. You are learning, growing and evolving every single day, and with the right mindset and positive financial habits, you can achieve a brighter financial future.

“Each day I get closer to financial freedom.”

Every action you take, every decision you make gets you one step closer to either reaching your financial goals or getting further away from them. It’s up to you. Trust in yourself and your ability to reach financial freedom, and then go forth and work towards that goal every single day.
