Financial Literacy Month 2025: Meet the Humans of Money Mentors
This November, we’re celebrating Financial Literacy Month (FLM) by putting the spotlight on the Humans of Money Mentors – the team behind the scenes, empowering Albertans to break free from debt and build brighter financial futures. Our counsellors, coordinators, and leaders know first-hand that financial literacy is about real people and real stories.
Each week of November, you’ll hear directly from our team as we share insights, tips, and experiences around the money topics that matter most. From budgeting to grocery savings, credit to money hacks, we’re bringing financial literacy to life in a way that’s practical, approachable, and human.

Week 1: Budgeting and Expense Tracking
Half of Canadians don’t have a budget, and many who do aren’t tracking where their money actually goes. In our first Humans of Money Mentors video, Tim St. Vincent and Manraj Waraich sit down with Crystal Lynch, one of our financial counsellors, to talk about how to turn your wish list into a working budget that truly fits your life.
Week 2: Grocery and Food Savings
For Week 2 of Financial Literacy Month, hosts Tim St. Vincent and Manraj Waraich sit down with Sharon Hyde, facilitator of Money Mentors’ FRESH Program, to talk about one of the biggest expenses (and biggest opportunities) for Canadians: grocery and food savings.
Week 3: Credit
Credit can feel intimidating, but you’re not alone. In this week’s Humans of Money Mentors episode, Tim St. Vincent, Manraj Waraich, and longtime team member Kimberly Spring open up about the credit mistakes they’ve made, the lessons they’ve learned, and the habits that helped them rebuild. From missed payments to lender errors, fraud warnings to utilization traps, this conversation is all about taking the fear out of credit and learning how to use it as a tool for your financial future.
The 2025 FLM Theme: Talk Money
Across Canada, November is Financial Literacy Month, a national campaign led by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). This year’s theme, “Talk Money,” encourages Canadians to open up about finances to build confidence and stronger money habits.
