Who We Are:

Money Mentors is a non-profit credit counselling agency based in Alberta that has supported Albertans since 1997. We provide education, counselling, and tailored debt solutions, offering the Orderly Payment of Debts program. We help clients consolidate and repay debt, navigate financial challenges, and move toward lasting financial stability.

Job Overview: This role focuses on expanding our reach through business development with employed and self-employed (unincorporated) Albertans. The Financial Educator will deliver high-quality financial education sessions, cultivate new business relationships, and promote Money Mentors’ services to individuals and groups within the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development:
    • Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, creditors, community organizations, professional associations, unions and self-employed individuals, to promote financial education services.
    • Present Money Mentors’ services to potential partners and clients, tailoring programs to meet the needs of different audiences.
    • Actively promote non-profit credit counselling, the Orderly Payment of Debts (OPD) program and other Money Mentors services.
  • Financial Education:
    • Deliver engaging financial literacy workshops, webinars, and one-on-one consultations on various money management topics.
    • Occasionally, may appear on TV, or radio, attend conferences, trade fairs, and write articles
    • Create and adapt educational content for various formats (in-person, online, and print) to ensure relevance and accessibility.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of personal finance trends, tools, and strategies.
    • Achieve KPI’s as determined on an annual basis.
  • Resource Development:
    • Research and develop high-quality interactive financial education tools and resources to facilitate effective learning experiences.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
    • Ensure resources are updated regularly to reflect the latest financial trends and regulations.
  • Partnership & Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align financial education offerings with Money Mentors’ strategic goals.
    • Engage in community outreach and participate in relevant events, forums, and industry groups to raise awareness about Money Mentors.
    • Maintain current and accurate records

Qualifications:

  • Education: diploma or degree
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in combination of teaching, facilitating, business development, training or financial services
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
    • Knowledge of personal finance topics.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet targets and deadlines.
    • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for virtual education and outreach.
    • Proficiency in using Excel, PowerPoint and Word

 

Requirements of the Role

  • Must have a reliable vehicle with a Class 5 license
  • Travel is expected within Edmonton city limits with occasional travel elsewhere
  • Some evenings/Saturdays may be required

  • Full time
  • Flexible hours
